Hip Phylosophy

Hip PhylosophyThere’s a lot to be said in regards to the need of dancers today and since so many students of dance write me I thought it important to share with all of you why I created Hip Phylosophy.

A teacher has to listen to her students and understand the thought process that goes into learning a specific dance style, move and combinations. We have to teach in a way that our students can understand how to connect the dots. This isn’t always easy especially when emotion, drama and theatrics complete the dance. I created Hip Phylosophy so that connecting the dots was a natural way to dance and rewarding at the same time.

Hip Phylosophy continuously changes because the needs of dancers change and because I change. The best part of belly dance is performing our experiences from life and creating something positive that gives us joy. Dance is very personal so Hip Phylosophy is a curriculum that each student can embrace and make her own.

If a student tells me she has a problem learning a move I am teaching, I figure out a way that makes it easier for her to learn. Dance doesn’t have to be regimented or hard it has to be taught in a way that makes the little steps accomplished by a dancer feel triumphant. When little steps are added up they can become a group of moves or choreography learned.

Hip Phylosophy was created with dancers in mind who have the fortitude to keep on studying so they can achieve their goals. And because many dancers and students of belly dance emailed me in regards to their needs I created a curriculum that is the end result of listening to dancers, reading emails and trying to find solutions to specific problems.

So Hip Phylosophy in a way is a community dance curriculum designed and structured with many dancers in mind. Hip Phylosophy will live on in each dancer and because it is your curriculum the best part of all will be passing it down to your students and seeing what future generations do with it.
